Decisions, Decisions...

Yesterday I finished knitting my gloves for the Autumn (Hedgerow mitts in Gothsocks "Dripping Rubies", but more of those another time) and I found some yarn, the exact same yarn that I made a Romney Kerchief from four or five years ago. I loved that scarf and wore it every day of every winter. It was warm and soft and smelt delicious, but then it got accidentally washed & tumbled dried this spring. I almost cried when that happened (the yarn is silk & merino so you can imagine the rest). I wound the skein in the tube home yesterday evening simply because I couldn't wait until I got home, then cast on joyfully as soon as I got home and ripped a pair of needles out of the cupboard.

The thing is, I had already planned exactly what I wanted to cast on next. The scarf is delicious and snuggly and probably won't take that long to make, but it's 5 rows knit, 1 row purl with four increases every other row. Yes, it gets more boring as you go on. My brain is bored. It's been a really boring week (head cold so no thinking) and I really REALLY want to cast on the other thing, which is complicated and beautiful and calling my name.

Do I stick with boring, or go for complicated at home and do boring on the tube (if you're listening, beautiful soft I-love-you-and-I've-missed-you cherry red triangle, you're not boring, you're essential to my wellbeing but you're not difficult to make).
